Honestly, I find it a bit of a challenge getting through a shrimp shell with a knife , especially the jumbo guys. So I don’t bother. Grab your kitchen shears and snip away. This is the easiest way to clean and butterfly shrimp.
Get yourself:
- Shrimp
- Kitchen shears
- Patience
Here’s about 1.5lbs of jumbo shrimp
In other words, a daunting mountain of shrimp that has to be cleaned
…dun, dun, dunnnnnnn…
I’m gonna help you make this process as painless as possible
Grab your shears…
Grip shrimp firmly and slip tip of shear under shell
Stop when you get to the last ring of the shrimp shell
Now, pull both sides of the shell away from body
Leave tail on
You’ll notice a dark vein running across the back of the shrimp
Pull that sucker out
…not good eats…
The shrimp should be butterflied just from cutting through with the shears
If not deep enough, just slice through with a paring knife
and there you go…
Clean butterflied shrimp in a hot second
Big shout out to wifey for taking these DIY shots…
